On September 18, Chongqing Station on the northern extension of Chongqing Metro Line 18, built by Chongqing Rail Transit Group and constructed by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), fully entered the station crown-excavation construction stage. With this, all 8 stations along the line have entered the main structure construction stage.
Chongqing Station is an underground two-level mined station featuring an island platform 15 meters wide and 142 meters long. It is located to the northwest of the China Railway Chongqing Station and Chongqing Station of Line 26 (planned) and Line 27, with a total of 4 entrances and exits and 2 transfer passages.
Because the main body of Chongqing Station was changed from a semi-open/semi-mined design to a fully mined station during planning, an additional construction access passage was required to meet construction needs. The construction unit successively overcame difficulties such as a cramped construction site, precise control of blasting vibration velocity, and coordination with the surrounding and external environment, and successfully completed the construction of the access passage.
During the crown-excavation construction, Chongqing Rail Transit Group and CCCC organized carefully and cooperated fully, formulating a scientific and practicable special plan and establishing a task force to tackle technical challenges, ensuring that all technical plans and measures were scientific and feasible. All construction personnel strictly implemented grid-based and standardized safety management requirements, making every effort to ensure construction safety and project progress.
The northern extension of Line 18 lies entirely within Yuzhong District, starting at Xiaoshizi Station and ending at Fuhua Road Station (exclusive). The line is 10.61 kilometers long, entirely underground, with 8 stations in total, 3 of which are transfer stations. Once completed, the line will further densify the rail transit network in Yuzhong District, drive the formation of industrial cluster areas along the route, fill the rail transit gap in the lower half of the Yuzhong Peninsula, and effectively alleviate traffic congestion in areas such as Caiyuanba and Daping.
