On September 11, the right tube of the Lingdan Tunnel, a control project of the Yunlong–Lanping Expressway, was successfully holed through. With this, the Lingdan Tunnel has achieved double-tube breakthrough, and the Yunlong–Lanping Expressway project has taken a solid step toward the goal of full-line completion and opening to traffic.

The Yunlong–Lanping Expressway project is invested in and constructed by Yunnan Construction and Investment Holding Group. The project starts from the north side of Guanping Township in Yunlong County, connecting with the Dali–Yangbi–Yunlong Expressway, and ends at Dagongdian, about 5 kilometers northeast of Jinding Town in Lanping County, connecting with the planned Hejian–Lanping Expressway terminus. The main line is 71.57 kilometers long, and the connecting line is 2.93 kilometers long. The Lingdan Tunnel is the longest tunnel on the entire Yunlong–Lanping Expressway, with a left tube 4,525 meters long and a right tube 4,515 meters long. The tunnel is located in the red-bed area of western Yunnan, where the geology is mainly mudstone intercalated with sandstone, with large burial depth, and it passes through multiple fault fracture zones, posing relatively high construction safety risks.

Despite the great construction difficulties, the project company and participating units overcame difficulties such as large deformation of soft rock and fractured rock masses. By strengthening construction organization, enhancing monitoring and measurement and geological forecasting management, strictly controlling quality and safety, and promoting the use of technologies such as multifunctional arch frame operation trolleys and hydraulic secondary lining trolleys, they ultimately achieved the smooth breakthrough of the tunnel with "zero accidents" over 1,367 days.
