The reporter learned from the Publicity Department of the CPC Tongjiang Municipal Committee in Heilongjiang Province that at 15:07 on September 4, 2023, a partial collapse occurred in a three-story building at No. 625 Xingfu Road, Tongjiang City, Heilongjiang Province. Preliminary information indicates that the building was vacant, of brick-concrete structure, with a floor area of 1,941.31 square meters. It was verified that one person was trapped; after being rescued, the trapped person was taken to hospital and died despite emergency treatment. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

On September 4, a netizen reported that a three-story hotel collapsed opposite the Tongjiang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Jiamusi, Heilongjiang.

In the on-site video footage, most of a three-story building had collapsed, with rubble and bricks scattered across the road. An excavator was operating at the site, raising dust. A cordon surrounded the area, and multiple police cars, fire engines, and ambulances were parked along the roadside. Uniformed police officers were maintaining order at the scene.

Staff at the Chengjiao Border Defense Police Station of the Tongjiang Public Security Bureau said that many officers from the station had arrived at the scene and were currently handling the situation. Regarding the cause of the incident and casualties, they said they were not clear.

Several shop owners near the hotel said the hotel was not currently open and was undergoing renovation. A shop employee said a construction worker was suspected to have been injured, adding, "Could it be that a load-bearing [part] was affected?" He said, "The surrounding area has been cordoned off and is being cleared; people are not allowed in."

On the afternoon of the 4th, Jiupai News attempted to contact hotel staff, but had received no reply as of press time.
