On August 30, after nearly 900 days of construction, the Daxi River Grand Bridge on the Chongqing-Hunan (Yuxiang) Double-Track Expressway achieved full-width completion.

The Daxi River Grand Bridge is located at the junction of Sizhong Village, Mingyu Town, Nanchuan District and Fengsheng Village, Fengyan Township, spanning the Daxi River. It is an integral bridge built to a two-way, six-lane expressway standard with a design speed of 100 km/h, a bridge length of 1,126 meters, a maximum pier height of 103.5 meters, and a maximum bridge height of 120.48 meters, equivalent to the height of a 42-story building.

The reporter learned that the Daxi River Grand Bridge crosses a valley with complex terrain and steep mountains on both sides. The project builders successively overcame numerous technical difficulties, including verticality control of the high-pier alignment, linear control of the long-span main girder, and control of post-construction deformation and concrete creep, and carried out research on six topics including "Research on Rapid Hole-Formation Technology for Pile Foundations in High-Strength Rock Strata under Narrow Mountain Terrain Conditions."

At present, the six research topics have yielded 6 national patents, 1 achievement honored as a 2022 Transportation Construction "Micro-Innovation" Achievement by the China Highway Construction Industry Association, and 1 first prize for QC Achievement from the Sichuan Provincial Construction Industry Association.

It is understood that since August, construction sites of key node projects along the Yuxiang Double-Track Expressway have been bustling with activity. The excavation of the exit section of the Tanjia Tunnel has surpassed the 4,000-meter mark, the Liujiashan Tunnel is about to achieve double-tube breakthrough, construction of the columns on the arch of the Shuangbao Grand Bridge has been completed, and cap beam hoisting is underway... Since its launch in 2020, this mountainous expressway, with a total length of 280 kilometers and an average bridge-tunnel ratio as high as 80%, has continuously updated its "progress bar," actively playing the role of a main force in expressway construction under construction and driving new breakthroughs in project construction.

As of August 30, the Yuxiang Double-Track project had completed an annual investment of 12.98 billion yuan, accounting for 80.8% of the annual investment plan; cumulative investment reached 46.45 billion yuan, accounting for 72.5% of the total investment plan of 64.05 billion yuan. A total of 98 bridges have been erected across the entire line, accounting for 71% of the 139 bridges on the entire line, and 53 tunnels have been holed through, accounting for 85% of the 62 tunnels on the entire line.
