On August 25, the Wulipo Tunnel, a controlling project of the Jiuzhaigou–Mianyang Expressway on the G8513 line invested by Sichuan Expressway Company (Chuan Gao) under the Shudao Group, achieved double-tube breakthrough, marking that all tunnels in the 117-kilometer section of the Jiumian Expressway scheduled to open by the end of the year (the 41-kilometer Jiuzhaigou section and the 76-kilometer Pingwu–Jiangyou section) have been successfully holed through, and the project has fully entered the final sprint toward opening to traffic.

The Wulipo Tunnel is located in Long'an Town and Gucheng Town, Pingwu County, Mianyang City. With a total length of 4,666 meters, it is a low-gas tunnel that passes through seven fault-fracture zones, involving complex geological conditions and great construction difficulty. During construction, the project team joined forces with multiple universities and research institutions to carry out scientific and technological research, applying patented technologies such as self-adaptive retractable grouting anchor bolts for large-deformation tunnels, and overcame technical challenges including large deformation of soft rock and high water inflow, achieving the double-tube breakthrough of the Wulipo Tunnel safely and smoothly.

The Jiumian Expressway has a total of 45 tunnels, totaling 130.83 kilometers in length. As of now, 40 tunnels totaling 104.53 kilometers have been holed through, and the remaining 5 tunnels are expected to be holed through by the end of 2024.

The Jiumian Expressway is an expressway that leads directly to Jiuzhaigou. With a total length of about 244 kilometers, 89 kilometers have already been completed and opened to traffic, and another 117 kilometers will be completed and opened by the end of this year. After the entire expressway is completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2024, the driving time from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou will be shortened from the current 8 hours to 4 hours.
