In July 2023, the SANY SCM new construction method drilling rig SR435W made its debut in Singapore, supporting a Singapore government HDB public housing construction project.

Singapore is located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, with an area of only 733.1 square kilometers and a resident population of 4.6 million, resulting in an extremely high population density. To address this issue, large-scale land reclamation has been carried out to expand living space. Therefore, given the poor bearing capacity of seabed silt, geological improvement is often required at the start of a project to control soil settlement and increase bearing capacity.

Cement mixing piles are an effective form of soft soil foundation treatment. Through a specially designed deep mixing machine, soft soil and cement (curing agent) are forcibly mixed, and a series of physical and chemical reactions between the cement and soft soil consolidate the soil mass, forming cement-soil piles with integrity, water stability, and a certain strength. The single-axis construction method is called Single Column Mixing (SCM).

Project Overview

The Tianshou project is located near Tianshou Avenue in Singapore, with a construction depth of 21–26 m, a pile diameter of 2400 mm, and a cumulative pile count of 1200. After the formation is improved using the SCM method, rotary drilling rigs are used to construct the HDB public housing.
Machine Features

The SCM method was custom-developed based on the SR435W rotary drilling rig, equipped with a high-speed power head, an octagonal drilling tool connection with high torque capacity, a multi-layer sealed rotary joint to ensure no slurry leakage, and intelligent control enabling automatic forward and reverse rotation of the power head and automatic raising and lowering of the pressurized winch, with stepless speed adjustment from 0.3 to 3 m/min.
