Chizhou Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge Enters Main Structure Construction Stage

On the morning of July 31, accompanied by the roar of an SWDM550 rotary drilling rig, the first pile of the No. 3 main pier of the Chizhou Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge was successfully drilled. While fully completing the scheduled milestone, this also marked the project's official entry into the main structure construction stage.

The Chizhou Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge connects Guichi District of Chizhou City and Zongyang County of Tongling City, with a total length of 3.1 kilometers, of which the main bridge is 1,768 meters long and is a three-main-truss, three-cable-plane double-deck steel truss cable-stayed bridge. The south cable tower of the bridge is 274.5 meters high, and the north cable tower is 282.5 meters high; both are elegantly shaped spatial diamond-type reinforced concrete bridge towers, earning it the reputation of the "Bridge in the Sky." The No. 3 main pier foundation is located in the Zongyang section of the Yangtze River, about 770 meters from the north bank levee. The foundation consists of 77 bored cast-in-place piles with a diameter of 2.8 meters, a designed pile length of 115 meters, and a drilling depth of up to 155 meters, equivalent to the height of a 50-story building, making it the deepest in China at present. The main pier construction stage coincides with the Yangtze River flood season, and driving 77 "bridge-stabilizing divine needles" into the surging waves presents imaginable difficulty.

During construction, the project department adhered to the strategy of Yangtze River ecological protection, strictly controlled ecological and environmental protection, and strove to minimize the impact of construction on the Yangtze River's ecological environment. At the same time, it tightly grasped safety and quality work, extensively carried out safety operation education, and continuously strengthened quality control training and education. Next, the project department will actively summarize the first pile, improve the pile foundation construction plan, optimize quality management during the operation process, ensure the steady and rapid progress of subsequent construction, and build the Chizhou Bridge into a quality project, safety project, green project, innovation project, and integrity project that can stand the test.

After the bridge is completed, it will become the sixth cross-river highway-railway bridge in Anhui Province, and is of great significance for further strengthening infrastructure construction in the Wanjiang region, improving the layout of river-crossing channels, and advancing the implementation of the Yangtze River Delta integrated development strategy.
