marking major progress in one of the key control

projects along the entire Changjiu High-Speed Railway

and laying a solid foundation for the next step of shield machine

mobilization, assembly and launch‍

The Tianxiang Avenue Tunnel of the Changjiu High-Speed Railway is located in the High-Tech Development Zone of Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. It is the only tunnel on the entire newly built Jiujiang–Nanchang section of the Beijing–Hong Kong High-Speed Railway to be constructed using the shield method, and it is also Jiangxi Province's first super-large-diameter shield tunnel. The tunnel has a total length of about 6.4 kilometers and is constructed using a combination of "shield tunneling + open-cut." The shield-driven section is 4.4 kilometers long and is designed as a single-tube, double-track tunnel with a segment outer diameter of 14.3 meters.

The shield launch section capped this time has a total length of 150 meters and is constructed using diaphragm walls plus sloped excavation in a cut-and-cover top-down sequence. The maximum excavation depth of the foundation pit reaches 28 meters, making it the deepest foundation pit of its kind in Jiangxi Province. Since entering the site, the project construction team of China Railway 14th Bureau Group has overcome many unfavorable factors, including proximity to 500kV high-voltage power lines and continuous rainy weather, and has tackled multiple high-risk construction difficulties, such as easy hole collapse in diaphragm walls in sandy gravel strata, high soil fluidity during excavation, and difficult hoisting in sloped excavation. The capping was achieved smoothly in only eight months.

The full and successful capping of the shield launch section is a phased victory achieved by the project department in overcoming difficulties. China Railway 14th Bureau Group will take this opportunity to strictly control safety and quality, continue to set off a vigorous construction upsurge, and go all out to achieve the goal of "shield launch as a tribute to National Day."

The Changjiu High-Speed Railway is an important component of the Beijing–Hong Kong High-Speed Railway, a main corridor of the "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed rail network in the national Medium- and Long-Term Railway Network Plan, and is a key section for opening up Jiangxi Province's north-south high-speed rail corridor with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. After completion and opening to traffic, it will be of great significance for Jiangxi to further integrate into the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, support the implementation of the Yangtze River Economic Belt development strategy, and promote high-quality economic and social development along the route.
