Recently, the XCMG XDT49×69 rectangular pipe jacking machine, deployed for the No. 2 entrance/exit passage of Yaoyuan Road Station on Hefei Metro Line 8, successfully completed its breakthrough. This marks the third rectangular pipe jacking operation after the No. 1 and No. 5 entrances/exits.

The No. 1, 2, and 5 entrances/exits of Yaoyuan Road Station on Hefei Metro Line 8 cross beneath the Fuyang North Road Viaduct, with a minimum cover depth of only 4.3 m. Along the route, the machine passes beneath 36-bore 10 kV power conduits and a φ1200 water supply pipe, with a minimum clear distance of 1.8 m, and ground settlement requirements are extremely stringent.

The geology consists mainly of hard clay, which becomes even more cohesive when exposed to water and has poor soil flow plasticity, resulting in high jacking forces and placing higher demands on the cutterhead and the power drive capability of the screw conveyor of the pipe jacking machine.

Leveraging advanced technologies such as efficient cutting in complex geology, high-performance power drive and sealing devices, and reliable and efficient screw mucking, the XCMG XDT49×69 rectangular pipe jacking machine began assembly and construction operations in mid-March. In less than four months, it has completed three sections of work, with a cumulative jacking length of 136.46 m and cumulative operating time of 580 hours.

The XCMG XDT49×69 rectangular pipe jacking machine is a high-performance electric-drive rectangular pipe jacking machine. The equipment comprehensively improves cutting coverage and mixing rates; it is equipped with a high-performance power drive device featuring ample power and a wide speed regulation range; and the screw mucking system is hydraulically driven, featuring low-speed high-torque anti-jamming rotation and a high-speed multiplied slag discharge mode.

In the Hefei metro jacking project, the XCMG pipe jacking machine demonstrated excellent performance and quality, jacking one cement pipe (1.5 m in length) at a construction efficiency of 3–4 m/day.
