Report Title
Research on Deformation and Vibration Risk Control for Shield Tunneling Beneath Ancient Building Complexes
Report Content
This report is based on systematic research carried out for the southern section of Phase II of Beijing Subway Line 8. The subway alignment passes beneath numerous key cultural heritage protection buildings and contiguous old-city cultural preservation areas; construction may not only cause adverse deformation effects on structures, but shield tunneling also produces pronounced vibration effects. The report focuses on the deformation patterns and prediction of ancient building complexes, ground deformation control standards, the relationship between shield parameters and settlement of ancient building complexes, risk assessment of the impact of shield construction on deformation of old single-story houses, and engineering control. It also reports research results on the mechanisms of vibration generated by shield construction, vibration source models, propagation laws, soil and ground surface response, and vibration effects on buildings.
