On July 4, the 'Announcement of Bidding for Consulting on the Feasibility Study Report of the Shanghai-Zhoushan Corridor Project' was released, and the feasibility study of the Shanghai-Zhoushan cross-sea corridor project is progressing steadily.
The Shanghai-Zhoushan-Ningbo Cross-Sea Corridor Project has been included in the 'Outline of the Plan for Integrated Regional Development of the Yangtze River Delta' issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, the 'Development Plan for Higher-Quality Integrated Transportation in the Yangtze River Delta Region' issued by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Transport, and the 'National Highway Network Plan'.

According to the bidding announcement: the Zhoushan-Shanghai comprehensive transportation corridor has a total length of approximately 65 kilometers. The project owner is the Shanghai-Zhoushan Corridor Preliminary Work Office. The scope of the bidding is the consulting work for the project's feasibility study report, mainly including:
(1) Based on the 'Feasibility Study Report' (explanatory text and drawings) of the project, regarding the design basis, technical standards, specifications, and research demonstration content involved in the engineering technical scheme, provide consulting suggestions on its rationality, applicability, completeness, and consistency;
(2) Verify whether the 'Feasibility Study Report' complies with the project proposal approval documents, etc., and whether it responds to and cites the research conclusions and important data of the technical support documents (special research reports), as well as the consistency between the two, and provide consulting opinions;
(3) Assist the employer in handling the approval of the feasibility study report, etc.

According to the preliminary research scheme:
The Shanghai-Zhoushan-Ningbo Cross-Sea Corridor is a comprehensive transportation corridor, studied with coordinated road and rail planning. In this preliminary research work, the highway section is the Yangshan-Daishan section, and the railway section is the Yangshan-Zhoushan Main Island section.

Among them, the highway corridor starts at Shuanghe in Daishan, connects southward with the under-construction Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Main Channel, crosses northward successively over the Daishan North Channel, the Xihanglu customary route, the Jinshan Channel, and the Caojing East Channel, and ends on the west side of Dayangshan Island, connecting with the Shanghai-planned Donghai Second Bridge, with a connecting line between Dayangshan and Xiaoyangshan connecting to the Donghai Bridge. The main line is about 35 kilometers long, and the connecting line is about 11 kilometers long.

The railway corridor starts at Ma'ao Station of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway, crosses northward successively over the Changbai West Channel, the West Channel of the Central Zhoushan Port Area, the Daishan South Channel, the Daishan North Channel, the Xihanglu customary route, the Jinshan Channel, and the Caojing East Channel, and ends on the west side of Dayangshan Island, connecting with the Shanghai-planned Donghai Second Bridge, with a total length of about 65 kilometers.

In addition, according to the Zhoushan Development and Reform Commission, the Shanghai-Zhoushan-Ningbo Corridor passing through Zhoushan consists of four sections: the Shanghai-Dayangshan section, the Dayangshan-Daishan section, the Daishan-Zhoushan Main Island section, and the Zhoushan Main Island-Ningbo section.
Part of the Shanghai-Zhoushan-Ningbo highway corridor has been completed. The Shanghai-Daishan section to be built is about 78.3 kilometers long, with a total investment of about 79.8 billion yuan. The Shanghai-Dayangshan section includes two corridors: the existing Donghai Bridge and the proposed Donghai Second Bridge. The proposed corridors for the Shanghai-Dayangshan section and the Dayangshan-Daishan section both recommend a two-way six-lane expressway, with a design speed of 100 km/h and a subgrade width of 33.5 meters.

The total investment of the Shanghai-Zhoushan-Ningbo railway corridor is about 64.1 billion yuan. The Shanghai-Dayangshan section and the Dayangshan-Daishan section both recommend a National Railway Class I double-track design, with a design speed of 200 km/h, for mixed passenger and freight traffic.
In addition, the Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo Railway crossing Hangzhou Bay has officially started construction. The railway passes through Nantong, Suzhou, Jiaxing, and Ningbo, with a total length of about 310 kilometers and a design speed of 350 km/h.
After all plans are implemented, there will be four major corridors crossing Hangzhou Bay: the already-open Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the under-construction Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo Railway, the planned Shanghai-Ningbo Corridor, and the Shanghai-Zhoushan-Ningbo Corridor.
