On June 13, 2023, the press conference and exhibitor preparatory meeting for the 16th China (Beijing) International Construction Machinery, Building Material Machinery and Mining Machinery Exhibition and Technical Exchange Conference (BICES 2023) was grandly held in Beijing. At the meeting, Qi Jun, Honorary President and Special Advisor of the China Construction Machinery Association, as a witness to the founding and development of BICES, affectionately reviewed the 34-year development history of BICES—the only national-brand industry exhibition for construction machinery—growing continuously with the support of all sectors of society and the industry.

Regarding the organization of BICES, he stated: First, thanks should go to the user friends present here and those unable to attend this meeting who have always strongly supported BICES. Over the years, at every exhibition you have organized a large number of equipment management and technical personnel to visit and procure, enhancing the value of the exhibition. Second, thanks should go to the exhibitors for their support of BICES, especially over the past three years when the 16th BICES was postponed six times due to the pandemic, yet exhibitors remained steadfast and insisted on participating, ensuring the comprehensiveness of the exhibition. At the same time, thanks should go to our media friends for their continuous extensive publicity and reporting, which has played an important role in promoting exhibitors' new technologies and new products.

In 1989, the three co-organizers of BICES, following instructions from the relevant former national ministries and commissions, organized the "China (Beijing) International Construction Machinery, Building Material Machinery and Mining Machinery Exhibition and Technical Exchange Conference" (BICES) in Beijing to promote the development of the construction machinery industry. Due to objective factors, the first exhibition encountered many unexpected difficulties, but the organizers persevered, and the exhibition was ultimately successfully held and achieved good results.

Due to its unique background, BICES has for many years adhered to the concept of building a communication and display platform for the industry. In particular, since the China Construction Machinery Association took the lead in organizing the exhibition, BICES has been regarded as one of the association's important projects in providing services to its member units.

During BICES 2019, the association successfully organized the "Exhibition Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China—Construction Machinery Industry Achievements Exhibition." During BICES 2023, the association will specially set up the "Forging Ahead in the New Era, Creating New Brilliance—Construction Machinery Industry Achievements Exhibition Area," showcasing the scientific and technological innovation achievements of China's construction machinery industry since the 18th National Congress of the CPC. Through pictures, text, charts, and data, it will fully display the development achievements of relevant enterprises in the industry and review and showcase the technologies, products, construction methods, and service solutions first launched by exhibitors at previous BICES exhibitions.

At the same time, during BICES 2023, the association will give full play to its advantages by organizing a large number of activities reflecting the latest development directions of the entire industry, promoting high-end, intelligent, and green development, based on the communication needs of users and exhibitors, creating production-demand matchmaking, and covering major specialized fields—including new technology exchange meetings, industry standard exchange meetings, expert seminars, and construction safety seminars. In addition, in coordination with international associations and institutions of relevant countries, and focusing on international market demand, international conferences and activities will be held under the leadership of relevant national international associations. These are activities with unique BICES characteristics organized by the industry association as the lead organizer, relying on its own industry resource advantages—something other exhibitions do not possess.

I sincerely hope that our exhibitors, users, and media friends will continue to give BICES more attention and support as always. I am also fully confident that BICES 2023, with the joint efforts of the three organizers led by the association, will be held better and better. At the same time, I also hope that all friends present and those not present will offer suggestions for BICES, point out our shortcomings, and put forward your requirements, so that we can jointly study how to make BICES even better.
