At around 9 a.m. on June 6, the subgrade of the railway line in the Gangmulashan Tunnel on the Jiazhui–Kangsa section of the Lhasa–Nyingchi Railway subsided. To ensure the safety of passenger trains, the railway authorities immediately activated an emergency response plan and closed the line for a comprehensive inspection. Affected by this, trains Z9807 and Z9808 from Nyingchi to Lhasa on June 6 were suspended, and passengers who have purchased tickets for the suspended trains may obtain refunds free of charge.

XINING, June 7 (Xinhua) -- The reporter learned on the evening of June 7 from China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Qinghai-Tibet Group Company") that since June 6, the subgrade of the railway line in the Gangmulashan Tunnel on the Jiazhui–Kangsa section of the Lhasa–Nyingchi Railway has subsided. Experts have been organized to go to the site for investigation and emergency repairs, and the bullet trains operating on this line have been temporarily suspended.

The Lhasa–Nyingchi Railway is China's first electrified plateau railway. It opened to traffic on June 25, 2021, ending the history of no railway access in southeastern Tibet. The Fuxing plateau dual-source (electric and diesel) EMU was put into operation at the same time, historically achieving full coverage of the Fuxing trains across all 31 provincial-level regions of China.

According to the official Weibo account of Lhasa Railway Station of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway Company, after the subgrade subsidence was discovered, the railway authorities closed the line for a comprehensive inspection and maintenance to ensure the safety of train operations.

Affected by this, passenger trains between Nyingchi and Lhasa have been temporarily suspended. To facilitate passenger travel, from June 8 to 12, the Qinghai-Tibet Group Company added passenger trains Z9811 and Z9812 between Lhasa and Langxian.
