On June 6, the Huangshagang Grand Bridge, a key and difficult control project of the National Highway 204 Yanfu Expressway, was successfully closed, laying the foundation for the smooth opening of the entire line. The Huangshagang Grand Bridge has two main piers, both located within the Huangshagang waterway. Each main pier foundation has 12 piles, and the pile cap structure measures 11 m long × 15 m wide × 3.2 m high, with a total concrete volume of 2,112 cubic meters. Steel sheet pile cofferdams were used for construction.

To ensure construction safety and quality, the builders adopted large steel formwork for one-time integral pouring, scientifically installed cooling pipes, applied mass concrete crack control technology, and strictly implemented temperature control measures.

The Huangshagang Grand Bridge is located in Jianhu County, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, with a total length of 1,661.1 meters. It crosses the Huangshagang waterway and Gangkou Avenue and is a three-span continuous beam bridge with the largest span, the greatest construction difficulty, and the highest safety and environmental/water conservation requirements on the entire Yanfu Expressway.

After the bridge is closed, the remaining bridge deck ancillary works will be carried out, with completion expected by the end of June 2023. The Jiangsu Yanfu Expressway is an important part of National Highway 204 in the national highway network plan for 2013 to 2030. Once the project is completed and opened to traffic, it will play an important role in ensuring the safe and smooth flow of the national highway, strengthening traffic connections between Yancheng urban area and Jianhu and Funing, improving the regional trunk road network structure, and promoting local economic and social development.
