Recently, XCMG's XZ11600 horizontal directional drilling rig appeared in Qingdao to assist in the gas pipeline laying project of the Shandong East Trunk Pipeline Network. The construction involved large-diameter steel pipes of 1219 mm, with a total construction length of 1000 m. During the drilling and pullback processes, the geology crossed was hard, with rock formation strength of 80 MPa. In addition, the project also required crossing a river, with complex crossing geology and terrain, making construction quite difficult.

The XCMG XZ11600 horizontal directional drilling rig is an intelligent ultra-large-tonnage horizontal directional drilling rig independently developed by XCMG Foundation to meet customer needs. It features fast rotation speed, high torque, high thrust and pull force, and high push-pull speed. Its maximum pullback force reaches 11600 kN, and its maximum rotary torque is 260000 N·m. It is suitable for long-distance, highly difficult, and complex-terrain construction, meeting the needs of large pipeline projects and rock-formation construction projects.

During construction, the XCMG XZ11600 horizontal directional drilling rig was equipped with a three-engine power system, featuring high torque and high rotation speed. Combined with multi-gear stepless speed regulation technology, the rig not only has strong power and wide geological adaptability but is also economical in fuel consumption, effectively reducing construction costs! With embedded load-on-demand distribution technology, it can start with dual engines, efficiently raising maximum torque and maximum thrust/pull force, fully utilizing engine power for efficient construction.

At the same time, the newly upgraded mechanical gripper equipped on the horizontal directional drilling rig is both intelligent and efficient, and the one-key leveling function simplifies the construction process. Gripper pressure and flipping speed can be adjusted according to actual working conditions. The automatic rod dropping mechanism can automatically slide the drill pipe to the ground, saving manual disassembly costs.

In terms of intelligence, the whole machine adopts a modular design for quick disassembly, replacement, and convenient maintenance. It has established a push-pull speed adaptive cruising reaming function based on load feedback, which can effectively improve reaming efficiency and extend the service life of working devices. The push-pull sliding drill frame, combined with the rocker arm structure, makes adjustment of the drill frame entry angle simple, convenient, and safe.

During construction, the XCMG XZ11600, through its onboard digital display system, adjusts main construction parameters such as rotary torque and thrust/pull force. Machine owners can remotely view construction records and construction data on the mobile version of the Drill Cloud platform. XCMG's experienced technical team can conduct data analysis in the cloud to provide real-time support and ensure construction.
