Construction of Yicheng Hanjiang Grand Bridge in Full Swing

On March 27, at the construction site of the Yicheng Hanjiang Grand Bridge on the Xiangyang-Jingmen High-Speed Railway, machines roared and workers were busy in an orderly manner.

According to Yu Ke, chief engineer of the Third Work Area of the First Bid Section of the Xiangyang-Jingmen Railway Project of China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group: Currently, bored pile construction for the main bridge is underway, along with substructure construction for the approach bridge. The bored piles for the central main pier are expected to be completed by the end of this month, after which deep foundation pit construction for the main pier will begin. The key difficulties of the project lie in the long length and large diameter of the main bridge bored piles, complex geology, and high difficulty of hole formation. The construction technology was optimized to ensure the successful formation of the bored piles.

The Yicheng Hanjiang Grand Bridge has a total length of 25,483.82 extended meters and is an important component of the Xiangyang-Jingmen High-Speed Railway. The Xiangyang-Jingmen High-Speed Railway starts from Xiangyang East Station in the north and runs south through Xiangzhou District, Yicheng City, and Nanzhang County to Dongbao District, Zhongxiang City, and Duodao District of Jingmen City, ending at Jingmen West Station. It connects with the Zhengzhou-Chongqing High-Speed Railway and the Wuhan-Shiyan High-Speed Railway at Xiangyang East Station, and with the Jingmen-Jingzhou High-Speed Railway and the Yangtze River Coastal High-Speed Railway at Jingmen West Station. It is a high-speed railway with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour and a construction period of three and a half years. The newly built main line is 116.231 kilometers long, crossing the Hanjiang River in Yicheng, and includes four stations: Xiangyang East Station, Yicheng North Station, Shuanghe West Station, and Jingmen West Station.

After winning the bid on September 28, 2022, China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group quickly formulated a construction plan, scientifically allocated construction resources, refined on-site responsibility assignments, overcame difficulties, and maintained more than 100 people on the construction front line working in three shifts to race against time and speed up progress, ensuring orderly advancement of the project according to schedule milestones.
