The two major conferences in session

On February 24-26, the "2023 National Piling Machinery Industry Technology and Equipment Innovation Exchange Conference" and the "12th Deep Foundation Engineering Development Forum" were held concurrently in Kunming, Yunnan. The events were jointly hosted by the Deep Foundation and Underground Space Engineering Branch of the China Construction Industry Association, the Piling Machinery Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and the Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society. Chen Gang, General Manager of Shanghai Zoomlion Piling Machinery Co., Ltd., and Tong Sai, Deputy General Manager, attended in formal attire. With the theme of "Collaborative Development & Steady Progress," the conference brought together nearly a thousand renowned academicians and experts in the foundation engineering field, making it a premier event for the foundation engineering industry in 2023.

Zoomlion was invited to attend the conference and delivered a keynote presentation titled "Design Philosophy of Large Rotary Drilling Rigs Focusing on Drill Pipe Lifespan and Intelligent Assisted Construction" at the "2023 National Piling Machinery Industry Technology and Equipment Innovation Exchange Conference." Currently, large rotary drilling rigs face two pain points during operation: poor drill pipe reliability and difficult operation matching. The report focused on improving drill pipe lifespan and overall efficiency, presenting Zoomlion's improvement directions and design philosophy for the structure and control system of rotary drilling rigs. In his report, Mr. Zhu pointed out that the fundamental cause affecting drill pipe lifespan is certainly the issue of force; establishing a force transmission model to fully expand the analysis scope; using big data to reproduce operator operation spectra and system load spectra to quantify real working conditions and improve analysis accuracy; intelligent functions can reduce the demand for operator experience while lowering operational fatigue and improving component working conditions; the intersection of new technologies and traditional problems lies in weakening empirical design and strengthening mechanism-based design—five practical knowledge points that left attendees with much to take away.
