In the early hours of February 13, the first pile of the Hongqili Waterway road-rail bridge on the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway was concreted, marking the bridge's full entry into the pile foundation construction stage.

The main line of the newly built Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway is about 116 kilometers long. The main bridge of the road-rail combined section over the Hongqili Waterway is 1.41 kilometers long with a main span of 808 meters. It is the world's first cable-stayed bridge featuring a new structural system of a concrete-steel box-truss hybrid composite girder with two towers, two cable planes and ultra-short side spans, and is a key control project of the entire line. The upper deck of the bridge carries an eight-lane urban expressway, while the lower deck carries a four-track high-speed railway.

The Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway is an important part of the coastal corridor of the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed rail network. Once completed, the project will connect the entire main coastal high-speed rail corridor of Guangdong Province, further building the "Greater Bay Area on Rails" and driving coordinated regional development between eastern and western Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta. By then, Shenzhen Qianhai and Guangzhou Nansha will be linked by high-speed rail in half an hour, Shenzhen and Jiangmen will be reachable within one hour, and integrated and interactive development across the east and west banks of the Pearl River Estuary will become even closer.
