On February 10, the main foundation pit of Banqiao North Station in the Civil Engineering Section 2 work area of the Ningma Intercity Railway, constructed by China Railway Shanghai Engineering Bureau Group, was successfully excavated. This marks that Banqiao North Station has officially entered the main construction phase, and it is also the first station in the Nanjing section of the Ningma Line to have its main foundation pit excavated.

Banqiao North Station is a two-level underground station with three columns and a passing track, laid out in a north-south direction along Ningwu Highway. The station has a total length of 336 m, a width of 29.7 m, and a building area of 23,016.2 m², with three entrances and exits and two sets of ventilation pavilions. To achieve the milestone target, Nanjing Metro took concrete action and moved quickly to accelerate progress, strictly controlling the safety red line and building a firm safety defense. Through the efforts of all Nanjing Metro personnel, many difficulties such as earthwork transport and railway-related construction were resolved, creating favorable conditions for the smooth excavation of the foundation pit.

In the next stage of work, Nanjing Metro will continue to maintain the good construction momentum, make careful arrangements, and strictly control on-site construction safety, quality, and standardized civilized construction, ensuring that the project can be carried out to the standards of "high quality and strict requirements" and producing good results in building the Ningma Intercity Railway into a demonstration project.

It is reported that the Ningma Line is a "key project of the metropolitan area commuter transportation network" in the "Development Plan for Higher-Quality Integrated Transportation in the Yangtze River Delta Region" and is the first interprovincial intercity railway project in China. The establishment of the Ningma Intercity Railway will greatly enhance rapid commuting links between the main urban area of Ma'anshan and the central urban area of Nanjing, while also accelerating the need for the integrated development of Nanjing and Ma'anshan, giving play to Nanjing's role as a mega-city in driving development, and realizing the rapid economic development of the Yangtze River Delta's "golden corridor."
