The "long-arm equipment" featured by Wushan Copper Mine staff on camera is the CTJ40 mining pneumatic drilling jumbo, custom-built by XCMG to meet the underground operational needs of the Wushan Copper Mine. Compared with traditional hand-held drilling, this customized mining pneumatic drilling jumbo is superior in improving efficiency and construction safety.

Before the XCMG mining pneumatic drilling jumbo was introduced, the mine's previous drilling and blasting method mainly relied on traditional hand-held drilling. The hand-held drilling and blasting method required intense physical labor from workers, could not cover the entire working face, and left many areas out of reach and some angles impossible to drill, greatly affecting subsequent blasting operations.

At present, hydraulic rock drilling jumbos are generally used in the market, but they are not only costly but also expensive to maintain due to the high price of wear parts. To reduce costs, the mine's technical professionals conducted research and verification and found a way to save money.

To improve underground operational efficiency, the Wushan Copper Mine, after comparative verification of manufacturing technology and corporate strength in multiple aspects, chose to jointly develop a new mining pneumatic drilling jumbo with XCMG. Compared with traditional hand-held drilling, the customized XCMG CTJ40 mining pneumatic drilling jumbo is superior in saving money, improving efficiency, and ensuring construction safety.

The CTJ40 mining pneumatic drilling jumbo uses pneumatic power instead of hydraulic power, which can significantly reduce costs. At the same time, the drilling and blasting advance can be increased from the original 1.6–1.8 meters to 2.5–2.8 meters.

In terms of construction safety, the XCMG CTJ40 mining pneumatic drilling jumbo changes the working method of traditional pneumatic rock drills, keeping the operator away from the working face and allowing operation from the cab, which reduces the operator's labor intensity and greatly increases operational safety.

In terms of flexibility, the compact XCMG CTJ40 mining pneumatic drilling jumbo can move maneuverably, making it convenient for operation in narrow spaces, with a maximum working coverage area of 16 m².
