Recently, with the completion of the final asphalt paving, the Gaoke Middle Road (Luoshan Road–Outer Ring Expressway) reconstruction project has been fully opened as a dual-direction 6-lane corridor. Gaoke Middle Road is part of Gaoke Road, an east-west arterial road running through Pudong New Area, and is located in the core area of Zhangjiang Science City, with a total length of about 6.3 kilometers.

The reconstruction project widened Gaoke Middle Road in accordance with the 50-meter road red line standard, expanding the original dual-direction 4 lanes to dual-direction 6 lanes. It also included ancillary works such as drainage, bridges, river channels, traffic facilities, landscaping, and integrated pole consolidation. From west to east, the project crosses the Sanba River, Lüjiabang, Majiabang, Chuangxin River, and the Outer Ring Canal in sequence, requiring the construction of 2 new bridges and the maintenance of 3 bridges. At the same time, as an important east-west traffic corridor in Pudong New Area, the route passes through multiple intersections including Keyuan Road, Jinke Road, and Zhangdong Road, and carries heavy daily traffic.

To reduce the impact of construction, in addition to strengthening traffic organization, a number of new techniques were adopted during construction, including using slurry balance micro-pipe jacking to cross the tram line, and reinforcing the Zhangjiang overpass using anchor clamp plate tie rod structures and hinge joint grouting, so as to shorten the construction period, minimize the occupied area, and maintain the traffic capacity of the original Gaoke Middle Road.

After the 6-lane road surface was opened, the construction unit is now pressing ahead with the ancillary works. Once the project is completed, it will effectively alleviate east-west traffic congestion between the Outer Ring and Inner Ring in Pudong New Area, improve the service level of the road network, and provide better traffic conditions for access to Zhangjiang Science City.
