On the night of October 25, the Zhanggongmiao Lishui Grand Bridge under construction in Changde was brightly lit as if it were daytime. Concrete pouring for the mid-span closure segment of the right carriageway of the main bridge was proceeding in an orderly manner, and the roar of construction machinery seemed to make the quiet river surface lively. At 23:08 that day, with the completion of the final concrete pour for the main bridge, the main bridge of the Zhanggongmiao Lishui Grand Bridge was successfully closed.

The Zhanggongmiao Lishui Grand Bridge is a control project of the Zhanggongmiao, Lixian to Taiping, Linli highway section of the No. 1 Avenue of the Yuanli Expressway. The project is 2 kilometers long in total, including a main bridge 1,394.04 meters long. It is built to Class I highway standards with a design speed of 80 km/h, and involves a total investment of 372 million yuan. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in May 2022. To smoothly achieve the closure of the main bridge of the Zhanggongmiao Lishui Grand Bridge, the Zhanggongmiao Lishui Grand Bridge Project Management Department of Changde Road & Bridge Group formulated a detailed and feasible construction plan and chose the period with the lowest nighttime temperature for concrete pouring to reduce the impact of temperature differences and ensure the quality of the completed bridge.

The project officially started in May 2019. With the joint efforts of the project owner and the construction party, all employees of the project department actively took measures, organized scientifically, and pushed forward vigorously, steadily advancing the three major control objectives of project management: safety, quality, and progress. After 925 days of safe construction, the closure of the main bridge of the Zhanggongmiao Lishui Grand Bridge was finally successfully completed. Its closure is a key step toward the completion and opening to traffic of the Zhanggongmiao, Lixian to Taiping, Linli highway project on the No. 1 Avenue of the Yuanli Expressway.

After closure, the main bridge will enter the bridge deck and guardrail construction stages.
