On September 26, workers celebrated the full breakthrough of the tunnel inside the East Tianshan Extra-Long Tunnel. After more than five years of construction, the East Tianshan Extra-Long Tunnel, a controlling project of the G575 Barkol–Hami Highway, has been fully holed through, and the highway is expected to be put into operation before the end of the year. The G575 Barkol–Hami Highway is an important component of the national "Silk Road Grand Corridor" and the National Highway Network Plan, and is also an important section of the "5th Vertical" in Xinjiang's "five horizontal and seven vertical" expressway and high-grade highway network.
