作为大湾区连接粤东、粤北以及闽赣地区的枢纽门户的惠州，近年来随着“丰”字交通主框架启动，正一步步地向全省重要的门户城市和区域枢纽前进。
目前，惠州境内交通基础设施建设得如火如荼：赣深、广汕高铁惠州段进展顺利，惠清高速、河惠莞高速惠州段、惠州北互通建成通车，惠新大道及梅湖大道全线贯通，江南大道、小金河大道、四环南路（惠南立交至惠台立交段）建成通车，“丰”字交通1号公路先行段将于2023年完工。
