Recently, the right-line excavation of the Wozigou Tunnel exit in Contract Section XJ23 of the Yanjiang Expressway successfully surpassed the 1,000-meter mark, with cumulative excavation reaching 1,001.6 meters. This is the first extra-long tunnel in the Xinjin Section of the Yanjiang Expressway to exceed 1,000 meters of excavation, marking a phased victory in the project's construction.

The Wozigou Tunnel is located in Jinyang County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is designed as a small-clearance separated tunnel with a total length of 3,478 meters, of which Grade V surrounding rock accounts for 40% and Grade IV surrounding rock accounts for 60%. The exit section undertaken by Contract Section XJ23 has a total length of 1,771 meters.

The tunnel is located in complex geological conditions. The exit lies on colluvial deposits and passes beneath an important local traffic road, with a minimum distance of only 4.9 m from the road surface. The natural environment at the work site is harsh, making construction extremely difficult. To ensure smooth construction of the tunnel, all participating personnel of Shudao Group worked together to tackle the challenges and invited relevant experts to conduct on-site investigations to resolve construction difficulties. During construction, they adhered to the principles of "advanced pipe roofing, short advance, strong support, early closure, and frequent measurement" to advance steadily. At the same time, in response to the ecologically fragile natural conditions at the work site, measures such as internal circulation of water systems at the site station and enhanced green ecological protection were adopted to fully implement environmental protection and soil and water conservation. The project's safety, quality, environmental and water conservation, and progress were effectively controlled.

The G4216 Yanjiang Expressway is currently the highway project with the largest single investment in China. It is an important major corridor out of Sichuan connecting Chengdu with the Panxi Economic Zone, linking South Asia, and providing access to rivers and the sea. After completion and opening to traffic, the project will strongly promote poverty alleviation, revitalization, and industrial development in the Wumeng Mountain area and the Greater and Lesser Liangshan areas.
