Building a "Metropolitan Area on Rails" to better serve the construction of a new development pattern. On September 14, upstream news reporters learned from Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group that multiple rail transit line construction projects across the city are currently advancing in parallel, and the urban rail express line 27 is expected to start construction within the year.

Let us take a look at the latest progress of the rail projects currently under construction!

Line 15:

Phases I and II will be completed and put into operation simultaneously

Line 15 is an east-west urban rail express line under construction in Chongqing, starting from Zengjia Station in the west and ending at Liangjiang Movie City Station in the east, with a total length of approximately 71.53 kilometers and 25 stations. Line 15 adopts urban rail express trains (municipal Type D cars), with a maximum operating speed of 140 km/h.

According to the Chongqing Public Resources Trading Network, the Phase II project of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 15 is planned to start construction in September this year. Combined with the previous relevant approvals from the Chongqing Municipal Development and Reform Commission and relevant information from Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Railway Group, Phases I and II of Line 15 will be completed and put into operation simultaneously.

After the line is put into use, it will connect Shapingba District, Liangjiang New Area and Yubei District from west to east, linking three major transportation hubs: the Science City Railway Hub, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and the Fusheng High-speed Railway Station, and connecting the eastern, central and western trough valleys of Chongqing's main urban area. It is of great significance for accelerating the development of the western trough valley, improving the structure and hierarchy of the rail transit network, and guiding the urban development pattern.

Jiangtiao Line:

In the future, it will take only 30 minutes from Jiangjin to the central urban area

The suburban railway (rail transit extension line) Tiaodeng-Jiangjin Line starts at Tiaodeng Station (exclusive) of Rail Transit Line 5 and ends at Shengquansi Station in Jiangjin District, with a total length of approximately 28.22 kilometers. Six new elevated stations will be built. It will connect Jiangjin, Jiulongpo and Dadukou districts. After opening, it can operate through with Line 5 and achieve convenient transfers with Line 7 (planned), Line 17 (planned) and the Chongqing-Kunming High-speed Railway (under construction).

On August 28, the rotation construction of the bridge on the Jiangtiao Line crossing the Chongqing-Guizhou High-speed Railway was successfully completed, laying a solid foundation for the full opening of the line and setting a new record for the construction of a rail rotation bridge with the smallest curve radius in Chongqing.

Bishan-Tongliang Line: Will operate across lines with Line 27 at Bishan Station

How is the progress of the 9 rail transit lines under construction in Chongqing? The planned municipal express line Bishan-Tongliang Line has a total length of 37.35 kilometers. The project starts at Tongliang West Station, passes through Tongliang Station, Tongliang New Town Station, Pulu Station, Dalu Station, Qinglonghu Station, Hebian Station and Daishan Avenue Station, and ends at Bishan Station.

This line also adopts urban rail express vehicles and will "operate through across lines" with the urban rail express line 27, which is planned to start construction within the year, at Bishan Station. After both the Bishan-Tongliang Line and Line 27 are completed and opened, it will take citizens only 45 minutes to travel from Tongliang to Chongqing East Station.

At present, the Bishan-Tongliang Line project has been launched across the entire line, and the entire line is striving to be completed in 2026.

Yuhe Line:

The first phase of the suburban railway Moxingpo-Hechuan Line project connects to the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway Weituo Station at the north end and to the Xiangyang-Chongqing Line Moxingpo North Handover Yard at the south end. The main line is 40.657 km long, and the total length of related connecting lines is approximately 18.334 km. There are 8 stations across the entire line.

On August 28, the Moxingpo Tunnel of the first phase of the Yuhe Line was successfully completed. The Moxingpo Tunnel is located in Dongyang Street, Beibei District, with a total length of 235 meters and a maximum buried depth of 21 meters. It is one of the important control projects of the first phase of the Yuhe Line.

Line 27: Expected to start construction within 2021

How is the progress of the 9 rail transit lines under construction in Chongqing? The planned Line 27 has a total length of 51 kilometers and is an east-west urban rail express line. The line starts at Bishan Station in the west, passes through Huxi Station, University City South Station, Zhaishanping Station, Xiyong Station, Ciqikou Station, Shapingba Station, Shiqiaopu Station, Daping West Station, Chongqing Station, Houbao Station, Nanping Station and Guangfu Avenue Station, and ends at Chongqing East Station.

The line has a total length of 51.829 kilometers and 14 stations. It adopts urban rail express trains with a maximum operating speed of 140 km/h and a 25kV AC system, using 6-car formations.

According to Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Railway Group, the urban rail express line 27 is expected to start construction within this year. The estimated total investment of the project is approximately 34.587 billion yuan, and the construction period is 72 months.

North Extension of Line 5: Left tunnel of the longest section tunnel completed

The north extension of Line 5 has a total length of 8.64 kilometers. It starts at Yuanbo Center Station of Phase I of Line 5 and ends at Yuegang North Road Station. There are 7 stations, all underground stations, and a Shizishan parking lot at the end.

Recently, the left tunnel of the Yuanbo Center Station-Yuhegou Station section, the longest section tunnel of the north extension of Line 5, was successfully completed, laying a solid foundation for the "tunnel breakthrough" of the entire line.

Phase II of Line 4: Fully entered the track-laying stage

How is the progress of the 9 rail transit lines under construction in Chongqing? The planned Phase II of Line 4 starts at Tangjiatuo Station and ends at Shichuan Station, with a total length of 32.8 kilometers. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2022. The line has 15 stations (including 1 newly added station), among which Ganbazi Station, Fuhong Avenue Station, Yuzui Station and Yumiao Road Station are located within the Guoyuangang National Logistics Hub Park. At present, Phase II of Line 4 has recently fully entered the track-laying stage.

Phase I of Line 9: The entire line has achieved "power connection"

Phase I of Line 9 starts at Xinqiao in Shapingba District and ends at Xingke Avenue in Yubei District, connecting Shapingba District, Yuzhong District, Jiangbei District, Yubei District and Liangjiang New Area. The line has a total length of approximately 32.3 kilometers and 26 stations.

On August 17, the overhead contact system of the entire Phase I project of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 9 officially achieved "power connection".

Phase I of Line 18: The entire line has entered the rapid TBM construction stage

Phase I of Line 18 has a total length of approximately 29 kilometers, starting at Fuhua Road Station in Yuzhong District and ending at Tiaodeng South Station in Dadukou District.

On August 19, at the construction site of the Olympic Sports Center Station of Line 18, as the cutterhead of the giant "Hongyan No. 1" TBM began to rotate and excavate, the first TBM of the entire line was successfully launched, marking that the project has officially entered the rapid TBM construction stage.
