On September 12, with the completion of the final blasting operation, the Shentongshan Tunnel on Section 2 of the Laixi-Rongcheng High-Speed Railway, constructed by China Railway No. 4 Engineering Group, was successfully holed through. This is the first tunnel on the entire Laixi-Rongcheng High-Speed Railway to be completed, marking a new breakthrough in the project's tunnel construction and laying a solid foundation for ensuring an unimpeded girder-erection passage at the Haiyang East Girder Fabrication Yard and for the next stage of girder-erection construction.
The Shentongshan Tunnel is located in Shirenbo Village, Haiyang City. It is designed as a double-track tunnel with a train operating speed of 350 km/h. The tunnel lies in an eroded hilly area, with a minimum cover depth of only about 2 meters, obvious variations in rock strata, and poor geological conditions. In response to the problems of ultra-shallow cover and two crossings of fractured zones, the project department actively organized expert technical seminars and invited experts and professors from the owner unit, design unit, supervision unit, and the industry to conduct on-site exchanges and discussions on the construction plan, resulting in an implementation scheme featuring advanced pilot pipes and surface grouting. At the same time, the project adopted the most advanced smooth blasting technology for tunnels, deployed advanced equipment such as hydraulic invert trestles and intelligent lining trolleys, strengthened advanced geological forecasting and monitoring measurement, and strictly followed the principles of "advanced pipe forepoling, strict grouting, short excavation, strong support, early closure, and frequent measurement," achieving comprehensive improvements in progress, safety, and quality and ensuring the smooth breakthrough of the tunnel.
The ZQSG-2 project of the Laixi-Rongcheng Railway undertaken by China Railway No. 4 Engineering Group is located in the southern coastal area of the Jiaodong Peninsula in Shandong Province, passing through Haiyang City in Yantai and Rushan City in Weihai, with newly built Haiyang Station and Rushan South Station. The line has a total length of 46.374 km and a design speed of 350 km/h. After completion and opening to traffic, it will greatly optimize the regional railway network layout of the Jiaodong Peninsula and is of great significance for improving the disadvantageous position of the terminal end of the comprehensive transportation network of the Jiaodong Peninsula and promoting the integration of the Jiaodong economic circle.
The Laixi-Rongcheng High-Speed Railway, referred to as the Lai-Rong High-Speed Railway, is located in the southern coastal area of the Jiaodong Peninsula in Shandong Province. The line starts at Laixi Station (formerly Laixi North Station) in Qingdao in the west and runs eastward through Laiyang City and Haiyang City in Yantai, Rushan City and Wendeng District in Weihai, and connects with the Rongcheng Station of the Qingdao-Rongcheng Intercity Railway at the eastern end. The Qingdao section is 7.1 km long. The Qingdao-Laixi-Rongcheng High-Speed Railway is an extension of the Qingdao-Yinchuan High-Speed Railway corridor into the Shandong Peninsula region. The main line is 193 km long, with 7 stations across the entire line: Laixi Station, Laiyang South Station, Haiyang Station, Rushan South Station, Weihai Nanhai Station, Wendeng South Station, and Rongcheng Station.
