July, the hottest and most humid period of the year, and the pandemic is still raging.

On July 4, Zeng Xiaowen, a service engineer for Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia at Zoomlion's Piling Machinery Business Unit, received a notice from the service department leadership that our equipment ZR240C-3K would be shipped to the Hotan region of Xinjiang. Regardless of the pandemic, Zeng Xiaowen went alone and held his post. After a 4.5-hour flight, he learned that our equipment needed to be transported to the southern Kunlun Mountains ridge for construction, where not only is the geographical location steep, but the weather is also extremely harsh. From Yecheng County to Wenquan Daban, over 700 kilometers of winding mountain roads, from an altitude of 3,000 meters all the way to 5,808 meters, he truly experienced the temperature differences of all four seasons in one trip. Beyond overcoming these difficulties, he also had to endure the pandemic's impact of undergoing a nucleic acid test at every county he passed through.

Zeng Xiaowen said: "On the high plateau of Xinjiang, the winding mountain roads are hard to travel. On National Highway 219, if a transport vehicle overturns, you have to abandon it on the spot! Because there is no rescue here, and no service area within 500 kilometers!" (500 kilometers is roughly equivalent to the distance from Shanghai to Hefei. Given local conditions, even a rescue vehicle traveling non-stop would need more than a day.)

The G219 Xinjiang-Tibet Highway is the only road route from Xinjiang into Tibet and the lifeline connecting the towns of Xinjiang and Tibet. Zeng Xiaowen mentioned that 20 kilometers west of the construction site is the Galwan Valley on the China-India border. Last year, India maliciously harassed our border, and our border soldiers bravely resisted in the icy river, holding their ground and also guarding the border lifeline where Zoomlion equipment is under construction!

What the Zoomlion ZR240C-3K is building is precisely the national defense highway extending from National Highway 219. In the future, this sky road on the plateau will deliver fresh vegetables to our border soldiers and can also transport fine equipment and heavy firepower weapons.

Wenquan Daban, at minus 7 degrees Celsius, is located in the Karakoram no-man's land of Hotan County, Hotan Region, Xinjiang. The Daban pass, at an altitude of 5,808 meters, is the highest point in China and the world where a highway is open to traffic. After arriving, Zeng Xiaowen and two Tibetan clients assembled the equipment together. Due to the high altitude and lack of oxygen, they had to rest after working for a while. Not only did they have to sleep hugging oxygen cylinders every night, but mobile phone signal was only available 260 kilometers away.

Zeng Xiaowen sighed: "It feels like being cut off from the world! Four days without news, my wife almost called the company. In half a month, I went from 180 jin to 140 jin! On the mountain, there is only one thought: no matter how hard it is down the mountain, at least there is oxygen and you can breathe freely. On the mountain, even air is a luxury!"

Even so, nothing could stop Zeng Xiaowen's footsteps, undaunted by the severe cold and hardship. Ultimately, through their unremitting efforts and perseverance, they completed the assembly of the equipment.
