The Yangbaoshan Grand Bridge is a controlling project of the Guiyang-Huangping Expressway, located in Xinba Town and Dexin Town of Guiding County, spanning both banks of the Dumu River. This grand bridge is Guizhou's first six-lane suspension bridge. Its main cables consist of 72 full-length cable strands and 4 backstay cables, with 24,128 high-strength galvanized steel wires and a total weight of nearly 4,600 tons.

Yangbaoshan Grand Bridge

The Yangbaoshan Grand Bridge has a total length of 1,112 meters and a main span of 650 meters. The AS method adopted for main cable construction is the first application of its kind in domestic suspension bridge construction, filling a domestic technical gap. It is also the widest steel truss girder suspension bridge in China's mountainous areas. Construction of the bridge began in September 2017 and was undertaken by the Second Company of CCCC Second Highway Engineering Co., Ltd.

Reporters learned that the main cables of the Yangbaoshan Grand Bridge are the primary load-bearing components of the bridge and its lifeline. The two main cables weigh nearly 4,500 tons in total, and each main cable consists of 36 full-length cable strands. All steel wires are 5.35 mm diameter high-strength galvanized steel wires. If the steel wires used were connected end to end, their total length would exceed 26,000 kilometers.

It is reported that the main line of the Guihuang Expressway project is 120.6 kilometers long, with a design speed of 100 km/h and a subgrade width of 33.5 meters, built to a two-way six-lane expressway standard. After completion, the project will shorten the distance from Guiyang to Huangping by 39 kilometers compared with the Guiweng Expressway and by 60 kilometers compared with the Shanghai-Kunming corridor. It will be the most convenient expressway corridor from Guiyang eastward to the Yangtze River Delta economic zone, building a transport network platform for Guiding's integration into Guiyang. The expressway will pass through Nanming District of Guiyang, Longli, Guiding and Fuquan in Qiannan, and Huangping in Qiandongnan.

After the Guihuang Expressway is completed and opened to traffic, it will further improve Guizhou Province's expressway network, enhance the transport capacity of the corridor from Guiyang to the Yangtze River Delta and the Chang-Zhu-Tan urban agglomeration, and optimize the highway transport structure in the Qiannan and Qiandongnan regions.
