Recently, the right tube of the Gaotou Tunnel in Contract Section A1 of the Fujian (Nan)jing–Yong(d)ing Expressway was successfully holed through, marking the full breakthrough of all tunnels in Contract Section A1 and laying the foundation for the project to open to traffic by the end of this year.

The right tube of the Gaotou Tunnel is 822 meters long, with an excavation span of 13.5 meters and a maximum buried depth of 86 meters, and the construction environment is complex. The project department overcame the adverse geological effects of portal eccentric pressure, water-rich zones, and developed surrounding rock fissures, and successfully completed the milestone target.

It is reported that the Jingyong Expressway is an important corridor connecting the Southwest Fujian Economic Cooperation Zone and the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. As of the end of June, the project had completed a cumulative investment of about 3.92 billion yuan, accounting for 78.6% of the total estimated investment; subgrade earthwork and stonework were basically completed, culvert works were fully completed, and tunnel excavation reached 21 kilometers, accounting for 95% of the designed total.
