On June 28, good news came from the construction of the Nanning-Chongzuo high-speed railway, a major project of the autonomous region: the main structure of all shield tunnel segments along the entire line has been completed, laying a solid foundation for the smooth completion and opening of the Nanning-Chongzuo high-speed railway in 2022.

On the morning of that day, as the last shield tunnel segment came off the production line, the main structure of all shield tunnel segments for the entire Nanning-Chongzuo high-speed railway was completed. He Xinyu, chief engineer of the segment prefabrication division of Section 2 of the Nanning-Chongzuo high-speed railway under China Railway 14th Bureau Group, said that the entire Nanning-Chongzuo high-speed railway requires 2,003 rings of prefabricated segments and 2,003 box culverts: "The segments produced by our segment prefabrication division adopt a '6+2+1' nine-block design, with every nine blocks forming one ring."

In the prefabrication of shield tunnel segments, the country's first independent curing production line for large-diameter shield tunnel segments was created. The entire production line uses a PLC control system to achieve precise curing of segments. The pass rate of finished segment tests is 100%, making it a demonstration base for municipal railway and other engineering construction in the Guangxi region.

Diao Musong, Party branch secretary of the Liucun Tunnel project of the Nanning-Chongzuo high-speed railway under China Railway 14th Bureau Group, said that more than 200 construction workers are currently accelerating the excavation of the Liucun Tunnel, a controlling project of the Nanning-Chongzuo high-speed railway: "The total length of the Liucun Tunnel is 4,006 meters, and we have completed 3,012 meters of excavation. The shield tunnel segment installation is carried out simultaneously with shield tunnel excavation, and segments have also been assembled to 3,012 meters. Next, through 24-hour continuous construction, we can ensure a daily excavation progress of 10 to 12 meters."

It is understood that the Nanning-Chongzuo high-speed railway is the first intercity high-speed railway independently invested and built by Guangxi. The main line has a total length of 119.3 kilometers and a designed operating speed of 250 kilometers per hour. After completion and opening in 2022, travel time from Nanning to Chongzuo will be shortened from the current 2 hours to half an hour, and the goal of high-speed rail access in all cities of Guangxi will be achieved. It will also become a convenient major corridor from China to Vietnam and other ASEAN countries.
