The rapid changes in cities are inseparable from the accelerated construction of key projects. It was recently learned that in the first half of this year, the Municipal Key Project Construction Management Office closely followed the municipal government's investment plan, focusing on both ongoing construction and preliminary project advancement. Key project construction has maintained a rapid growth trend overall, with cumulative completed investment growing rapidly year-on-year.

In the first half of the year, 11 key projects started construction on schedule, including 5 projects with an investment of over 50 million yuan each: the Provincial Public Health Clinical Center (Wuhu) project with a total investment of 2 billion yuan, the first phase of the Wanjiang College new campus project with a total investment of 1.995 billion yuan, as well as the Municipal Public Welfare Cemetery project, the Municipal Waste Treatment Plant Fly Ash Disposal and Closure Project, and the Guandoumen Road Extension Section. Among them, the Anhui Provincial Public Health Clinical Center (Wuhu) project is located in the enclosed plot south of Tongjiang Avenue, east of Jiangbei East Road, north of Zhanbei Road, and west of Jingwuhao Road, with a planned total construction area of 200,000 square meters, two wards, and approximately 1,000 beds in total. The project is jointly built by the province and the city, established as a "major specialty, minor general" hospital. Upon completion, it will be a provincial-level high-standard medical center hospital and emergency infectious disease treatment base. In the event of a major outbreak or disaster, it can be quickly converted into a professional treatment center. The two wards or centers are required to be relatively independent, with reserved land and buried pipelines, so that temporary ward buildings can be set up for treatment during emergencies. The new campus of Wanjiang College is located in the Dalongwan area of the Jiangbei Emerging Industry Cluster, adjacent to Wuhu North Station. The first phase of the south area has a total construction area of 68,661.92 square meters, including 7 individual buildings: the School of New Materials and Environmental Protection, the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, the School of Microelectronics, Teaching Building 5, Teaching Building 6, and a training factory. It is expected to be basically completed by May 2022, which will further improve the educational resources in Jiangbei and play a positive role in the strategic layout of high-quality development in the Dalongwan area. The Guandoumen Road Extension Section (Airport-Zhongjiang Avenue) construction project has a total length of approximately 2.46 kilometers and a red line width of 20 meters. It passes eastward through Dage Village, Xiaoge Village, and the south of Dongli Village, ending at the existing reserved intersection of Zhongjiang Avenue. The main construction content includes: road engineering, bridge and culvert engineering, drainage engineering, traffic engineering, lighting engineering, and other municipal supporting ancillary projects.

It is expected that in the second half of the year, a number of key projects will start construction successively, including the Huizhou Road (Wanchun Road-Beijing East Road) renovation, the Chujiang Avenue to Zhandong Road extension section, the Chujiang Avenue to Hefei Road extension section, three key buildings in the ancient city, and the new inpatient comprehensive building project of the Municipal Sixth People's Hospital. Among them, the Huizhou Road renovation (Wanchun Road-Beijing East Road) project will be designed in phases, with the near-term design as a dual eight-lane main road, reserving the feasibility of rapid transformation for the section north of Chizhu Mountain Road in the long term. It is planned to start construction on approximately 20 new projects throughout the year.
