Recently, good news has come again from the Jiulonghu Bridge. The steel trestle bridge of the Jiulonghu River-Crossing Bridge is progressing smoothly and rapidly, with three sections advancing simultaneously. From photos taken by relevant netizens, it can be clearly seen that the steel trestle bridge is divided into three sections: the Jiulonghu New Town section on the west bank, the Ganjiang River central section in the middle, and the Xianghu Riverside section on the east bank. All participating units should pool their wisdom and efforts, manage scientifically, reasonably formulate plans and schedule machinery and personnel, and ensure the simultaneous implementation of safety, quality, and progress, so as to ensure that the new project advances steadily according to the established milestones. At the current speed, it is estimated that the steel trestle bridge will be fully connected in July or August.

For laypeople, a question may arise: why construct the steel trestle bridge first? Unlike building bridges on flat land, when building large bridges in water areas, temporary steel trestle bridges are built alongside the main bridge alignment to assist main bridge construction. In addition, construction steel trestle bridges have a relatively fast erection speed and also solve the problems of passage for construction personnel and transportation of equipment and facilities, promoting the full-scale launch of the entire bridge construction and thus meeting the needs of the bridge pile foundation and pier and abutment construction.

It is understood that the Jiulonghu Bridge project is implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd., as the construction unit, is committed to building a quality project and boosting local economic development. While accelerating various preliminary preparations, it has invited industry experts to optimize the design and compare and demonstrate construction schemes, organized internal experts to conduct on-site planning, and ensured that personnel, machinery, and materials entered the site as soon as possible, creating favorable conditions for ensuring the smooth progress of bridge construction.

The total length of the Jiulonghu River-Crossing Bridge is about 4.7 km. The project is mainly divided into three parts: the river-crossing bridge section, the west bank approach project, and the east bank approach project. The main bridge is a half-through tied-arch bridge, with spans of 80+268+80 m and a total length of 428 m. It adopts a wind-brace-free outward-leaning butterfly arch design. The elevation of the main bridge arch ribs features a flying swallow shape, and both the main arch and main girder adopt steel structures. The main span has a complex structure and a large span, and construction is difficult. It is the greatest challenge for the construction progress, quality, and safety management of the project, and is also the controlling project of the project.

The Jiulonghu River-Crossing Bridge is divided into two parts: the river-crossing bridge section and the approach projects on both banks. The main line of the project is about 4.2 km long (excluding the connecting sections on both sides), about 26-54.5 m wide, and is an urban arterial road. The river-crossing section is about 1.7 km long and about 34.5-92 m wide, with a design speed of 60 km/h, dual eight lanes, and includes motor vehicle lanes, non-motor vehicle lanes, and sidewalks; the connecting projects on both banks include two parts: the approach interchanges on both banks and the ground auxiliary roads. The main construction content includes bridges, roads, traffic, drainage, lighting, intelligent transportation, greening, pipeline relocation, and ancillary works, etc.
