On June 23, the Wulanmulun River Bridge No. 3—the world's largest double-flying-wing landscape bridge of its type, built by Guangxi Road and Bridge Group, a subsidiary of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Investment Group—opened to traffic in Ordos, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The Wulanmulun River Bridge No. 3 has a total length of 348 meters. It is a half-through composite steel box arch bridge with a semi-floating system and a design speed of 50 km/h. The bridge's separate pedestrian walkways and viewing platforms form a double-flying-wing shape. The bridge is novel and aesthetically pleasing, technically demanding, and of high research value, setting a precedent for the construction of large-span arch bridges with complex structures in plateau regions.
Guangxi Road and Bridge Group vigorously carried out scientific and technological innovation during the bridge's construction, achieving pioneering breakthroughs in five key technologies in equipment research and development, informatization applications, and process and method improvements:
● For the first time, BIM technology and measuring robots were used to independently develop a new type of hydraulic lifting device, controlling the hoisting precision of large spatial irregular steel box arches to within 3 millimeters;
● For the first time, an ultra-high matrix support was applied to the construction and system conversion technology of this bridge type;
● For the first time, the steel-STC + high-viscosity high-elasticity SMA asphalt bridge deck composite paving construction technology was applied in a plateau region of northern China;
● For the first time, a new type of arch abutment with a "prestressed + steel-concrete combined section structure" was designed and successfully applied in construction;
● For the first time, winter mass concrete construction technology was successfully applied in the Ordos region. Night view of the Wulanmulun River Bridge No. 3
The bridge's arch rib and box girder installation and closure precision, as well as the one-time weld pass rate, were superior to specification requirements. During construction, 18 technical patents were obtained, multiple national and provincial/ministerial-level QC achievements were made, and multiple national and provincial/ministerial honors were won, including a national first prize in the BIM Application Skills Competition.
