On June 22, the Sunward Lean Production Kick-off Conference was held in the Fuel Tank and Steel Pipe Workshop at Sunward Industrial City and the International Conference Hall on the fifth floor of the headquarters building. Sunward Chairman He Qinghua, company leaders Fu Xiangdong, Huang Zhixiong, Xiong Daoguang, Wu Wenwei, and Zhang Aimin, Senior Advisor Yi Yuxin, and all members of the company's Lean Committee, members of lean organizations from various business divisions, and representatives of award-winning lean projects—150 people in total—attended the event.

Company leaders and the newly formed lean team visited the lean production demonstration workshop—the Fuel Tank and Steel Pipe Workshop. Vice General Manager Huang Zhixiong gave a detailed introduction to how the workshop had moved step by step from its previous large-batch, inventory-based production model to its current one-piece flow model, in which capacity is matched as closely as possible to market demand, as well as the results the new lean production model has achieved in reducing tied-up inventory capital and occupied floor space.

At the kick-off conference, Lean Director Guo Xiaoning shared practical lean production case studies. Vice General Manager Huang Zhixiong elaborated on the essence of lean and the methods and approach of lean production, proposed breaking away from conventional thinking and carrying out work with lean thinking and methods, and put forward five new requirements for manufacturing management personnel, aiming to make manufacturing the company's core competitiveness through the advancement of lean production projects.

General Manager Fu Xiangdong presented awards to outstanding teams and outstanding individuals who performed exceptionally well during the implementation of lean production projects. Representatives of the award-winning outstanding teams and the outstanding individuals shared their experiences and insights with everyone.

At the meeting, Vice General Manager Huang Zhixiong signed letters of responsibility with the lean organizations of twelve business divisions and presented them with flags, and Chairman He Qinghua issued a letter of appointment to Lean Director Guo Xiaoning.

Chairman He Qinghua delivered an important speech at the kick-off conference, affirming the results of lean production implementation in the Fuel Tank and Steel Pipe Workshop. He Qinghua pointed out that the convening of the lean production kick-off conference is of milestone significance to the company's manufacturing sector. While setting lean advancement tasks, each lean group should also establish corresponding assessment and evaluation mechanisms, so that through evaluation everyone can see the advanced, learn from the advanced. He expressed the hope that with the joint efforts of the Lean Director, the lean groups, and all employees in the manufacturing system, the company will create relatively greater value with relatively few resources and make Sunward's lean manufacturing an industry benchmark.
