At 1:15 a.m. on June 21, in Wanzhuang Town, Guangyang District, Langfang City, Hebei Province, the swivel girder of the Langfang Grand Bridge—part of the first phase of the new intercity railway line linking Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport, and China's first intercity railway swivel girder to span both the Beijing-Shanghai Railway and the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway at the same time—successfully completed its rotation in 110 minutes at the construction site of China Railway Tenth Group.

The new intercity railway line linking Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport is an important project in the planning and construction of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei intercity railway network. According to the approved plan, the southern end of the project connects with Gu'an East Station on the Beijing-Xiong'an Intercity Railway, linking to the Xiong'an High-Speed Railway Station and the Beijing-Xiong'an-Shangqiu High-Speed Railway, and extends north through Beijing Daxing International Airport Station, Langfang East Station, Universal Studios Station, Beijing Sub-Center Station, and Capital International Airport Station to connect with Huairou South Station on the Beijing-Harbin High-Speed Railway. The project is being built in two phases. The first phase began construction in 2019, starting from the Beijing-Hebei provincial boundary east of Langfang East Station and ending at the Beijing-Hebei provincial boundary south of Beijing Daxing International Airport. The entire line is progressing steadily, with the main works expected to be completed within the year; preliminary work for the second phase is being accelerated. Once the entire project is completed, it will achieve interconnectivity between Beijing's two major airports, and travel time between them will be shortened to 45 minutes.

The swivel girder of the Langfang Grand Bridge is one of the key control works of the first phase of the new intercity railway line linking Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport. It involves a high level of technology, strict technical requirements, and great construction difficulty. To reduce the impact of construction on railway operations, the swivel girder is constructed using the balanced swivel method: the girder body is first cast on both sides of the railway parallel to the railway direction, and then the main girder is rotated to span the railway, achieving completion of the bridge.

Li Bo, the on-site construction technical director of China Railway Tenth Group, explained that the two swivel continuous girders are each 98 meters long and weigh 9,000 tonnes. Pulled by four 400-tonne continuous jacking jacks, they rotated counterclockwise synchronously by 88°4′ more than 20 meters above the ground, achieving precise closure and connection and completing the crossing over the Beijing-Shanghai Railway and the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway at a crossing angle of 88°59′. The entire rotation process was safe, on schedule, and completed in one continuous operation, with all construction parameters fully meeting design requirements.
