6月16日从中国中铁五局了解到，由其承建的中老铁路最长桥梁蓬通特大桥主体施工日前完成。
蓬通特大桥位于老挝首都万象市，全长7528.56米，墩台231个。该桥于2020年7月27日开始施工，同年10月12日完成首个墩浇筑。2021年6月14日晚，大桥最后一个桥墩顺利完成浇筑，标志着该桥主体施工完成。
中铁五局项目部全体人员克服雨季时间长、地质条件复杂和疫情影响等困难，确保了蓬通特大桥施工稳步推进。
另据负责中老铁路建设和运营的老中铁路有限公司介绍，老挝国家副主席本通15日接见老中铁路有限公司总经理肖乾文时表示，2020年新冠疫情暴发以来，中老铁路建设面临极大挑战，但各项工作有序均衡稳步推进，坚定了2021年12月通车信心。
中老铁路是中国提出的“一带一路”倡议与老挝“变陆锁国为陆联国”战略对接项目，采用中国技术标准和管理标准建设。
