On May 11, the right tube of the Bajiaoqing Tunnel on the Yuxi-Chuxiong Expressway in Yunnan was successfully holed through.
The Bajiaoqing Tunnel, with a total length of 3,688 meters, is the longest tunnel in the second phase of the Yuxi-Chuxiong Expressway and a controlling work point for achieving the goal of opening to traffic by the end of this year. The tunnel passes through multiple fault fracture zones, with villages above it and variable surrounding rock below, making construction difficult and high-risk.
Since construction began in January 2019, the TJ-11 project department of China Railway No.2 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. for the Yunnan Yuxi-Chuxiong Expressway, which is undertaking the tunnel construction, has adopted a conservative and safe construction scheme featuring advance reinforcement, short advance per round, rapid sealing, and frequent measurement, steadily advancing the excavation. It has also strengthened daily safety education, hazard identification, and the leadership shift system, achieving both progress and safety.
