On May 10, it was learned from Shanghai-Kunming Passenger Dedicated Line Guizhou Company, which is responsible for the construction management of the main line of the Guizhou section of the Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Railway, that since construction began at the end of 2017, progress has advanced in an orderly manner according to plan. As of now, 71% of the pre-station works (subgrade, bridges and culverts, tunnels, stations and yards, etc.) in the Guizhou section have been completed overall.

The Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Railway is located in southeastern Guizhou Province and northwestern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It starts in Guiyang in the north and runs south through Longli, Guiding, Duyun, Dushan and Libo in Guizhou and Huanjiang, Hechi, Du'an, Mashan and Wuming in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, ending in Nanning. It is designed for a speed of 350 km/h, with a main line length of 481.118 km, of which 199.64 km is in Guizhou. A total of 84 new bridges will be built, totaling 53.168 km, or 26.6% of the line length; there are 63.5 tunnels in total, totaling 128.365 km, or 64.3% of the line length.

The Guizhou section of the Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Railway has five stations: Longli North, Guiding County, Duyun East, Dushan East and Libo.

It is worth noting that the longest tunnel on the entire Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Railway, the Jiuwandashan No. 1 Tunnel, is located in Libo County, Qiannan Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, between Libo Station and Laocun Station. It is 17.012 km long, is a Class I risk tunnel, and is a controlling project and a key and difficult project for the entire line.

As of April 30, in the pre-station works of the Guizhou section of the Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Railway, more than 90% of the subgrade had been completed, and 39 of the 63.5 tunnels had been holed through; among the 84 bridges, 99% of the pile foundations had been completed, more than 80% of the piers and abutments had been completed, more than 250 spans of girders had been erected, and more than 400 spans of precast girders had been completed.

At present, under the premise of ensuring safety and quality, the seven construction sections in the Guizhou section are adopting "three-shift" and "5+2, white plus black" modes to step up project construction with overtime work. During this year's May Day holiday alone, more than 12,000 builders in the Guizhou section gave up rest and worked day and night on the front line of Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Railway construction.

According to plan, starting in the second half of this year, post-station works such as station building works and the "four-electricity works" (communication, signaling, electric power and electrification works) in the Guizhou section will enter construction. With the coordinated efforts of all parties, the goal is for the Guizhou section to meet opening conditions by the end of 2023, laying a solid foundation for the opening and operation of the entire line.

The Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Railway is a component section of the Baotou-Haikou corridor (Baotou-Haikou) of the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network in China's Medium- and Long-Term Railway Network Plan. After the entire line opens for operation, the fastest railway travel time from Guiyang to Nanning will be reduced from the current more than five hours to less than two hours, playing an important role in promoting rural revitalization and high-quality economic and social development along the line.
