On May 10, pile foundation construction for the main bridge of the Yellow River Grand Bridge of the Jinan West Second Ring Expressway Project, invested and built by Shandong Hi-Speed Group, was fully completed, marking a full shift of main bridge construction from underground to above ground and laying a solid foundation for the next stage of cap and pier shaft construction and for the No. 45 main pier to emerge above water before the flood season. Once completed, the bridge will set a record as China's largest four-tower steel-concrete composite girder partial cable-stayed bridge and will add another Yellow River crossing to Jinan.

The reporter learned on site that the Yellow River Grand Bridge is a key controlling project of the Jinan West Second Ring Expressway Project, with a total length of 4,627 meters. Once completed, it will become China's largest four-tower steel-concrete composite girder partial cable-stayed bridge. The main bridge has four main piers and 86 piles, with a designed pile diameter of 2 meters and a maximum pile length of 95 meters. The geological rock structure at the site is complex, with many karst caves, making construction extremely difficult. During pile foundation construction, the project company organized all participating units to plan carefully and deploy thoroughly, strictly controlling each procedure and adopting a combined hole-forming technique of "rotary drilling + percussion drilling + reverse circulation rotary drilling" to ensure the quality of pile hole formation. During construction, "Party Member Vanguard Teams" and "Youth Commando Teams" were established, and a "Spring Intensive Work" labor competition was actively organized. Ultimately, under the premise of ensuring safety and quality, the main bridge pile foundation construction task was completed ahead of schedule.

According to the introduction, the project is an important part of the "Horizontal Line 2 Branch - Jinan Ring Expressway Second Ring Line" in Shandong Province's "nine vertical, five horizontal, one ring, seven radial and multiple connecting" expressway network. It is built to a two-way six-lane expressway technical standard with a design speed of 120 km/h. The implementation of the project is of great significance for improving the province's expressway layout, enhancing the overall efficiency of the road network, accelerating the construction of the provincial capital city cluster economic circle, promoting economic and social development in areas along the route, and giving full play to the role of investment in driving the province's economic development. As of now, the Jinan West Second Ring Expressway Project has completed a cumulative investment of 5.007 billion yuan, accounting for 23.87% of the estimated investment of 20.975 billion yuan.
