At 9:30 on May 6, with the last prefabricated box girder—40 meters long and weighing 165 tons—steadily placed on the cap beam of Pier No. 194, the box girder erection work for the land approach bridge of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link was successfully completed. This marks that the land approach bridge section of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link has been fully connected, and it is about to enter a new construction phase, laying a solid foundation for the Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway to connect with the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link.

With a total length of 24 kilometers, a 90-meter ultra-high bridge deck, and a two-way eight-lane undersea tunnel... the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link under construction is another super sea-crossing project after the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, also known as the "Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge," is a bridge under construction in Guangdong Province, China, connecting Shenzhen and Zhongshan. It starts at the Hezhou Interchange in Bao'an District, Shenzhen in the east and ends at the Hengmen Hub in Zhongshan in the west, with a total length of 24 kilometers, including a 6.8-kilometer immersed tube tunnel; the design speed of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is 100 kilometers per hour. It is a component of the Shenzhen-Cenxi Expressway (National Expressway G2518) of China's National Expressway Network.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link project is a world-class cluster project of "bridges, islands, tunnels, and underground interchanges." It is a major project of the national "13th Five-Year Plan" and a major transportation infrastructure project determined for construction in the "Pearl River Delta Planning Outline." It is an important transportation link connecting the three major areas of the Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zone, connecting the two major functional clusters of "Shenzhen-Dongguan-Huizhou" and "Zhuhai-Zhongshan-Jiangmen" in the Pearl River Delta, and a convenient corridor from eastern Guangdong to western Guangdong and even the greater southwest.
The two-way eight-lane undersea immersed tube tunnel of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, with technical characteristics such as "ultra-wide, deep-buried, and variable-width," has no precedent in the world. The steel-shell concrete immersed tube tunnel structure adopted is also the first large-scale application at home and abroad. It is a brand-new structure and technology and is highly pioneering and challenging.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2024. After opening, it will take only 30 minutes to travel directly from Shenzhen to Zhongshan, completely changing the history that people in western Guangdong must pass through the Humen Bridge to reach Shenzhen, and greatly reducing the long-term traffic congestion pressure on the Humen Bridge. Shenzhen and Zhongshan will simultaneously enter the "half-hour living and transportation circle," promoting the rapid development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area city cluster in the fields of humanities, logistics, economy, culture, and transportation connectivity.
