At 9:30 on May 6, as the last 40-meter-long, 165-ton precast box girder was steadily placed on the cap beam of Pier 194, the box girder erection work for the land-based approach bridge of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link was successfully completed. This marks the full connection of the land-based approach bridge section of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, which is about to enter a new construction phase and has also laid a solid foundation for the Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway to connect with the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link.
The land-based approach bridge of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is 1.64 kilometers long. Construction is divided into the main line bridge and Ramp A and Ramp B, with a total of 636 40-meter precast box girders to be erected. A person in charge of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link Project Department of China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group said that after the box girders for the land-based approach bridge are precast at the "smart girder yard" on Ma'an Island in Zhongshan City, they will be transported to the construction section by girder transport vehicles, transferred to the girder surface by hoisting gantry cranes, and then precisely positioned and erected by a bridge erecting machine.
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is another world-class cross-sea cluster project integrating "bridges, islands, tunnels and underwater interchanges" after the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. It is also one of the projects with the greatest technical difficulty and the most complex construction technology in China and even the world today.
The completion of the box girder erection work for the land-based approach bridge of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link this time provides a working face for the next step of bridge deck system and ancillary construction of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, laying a solid foundation for advancing the next stage of construction.
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link starts from Hezhou Interchange in Bao'an District, Shenzhen in the east and ends at Hengmen Hub in Zhongshan City in the west. It has a total length of 24 kilometers and a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour, and is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic in 2024.
