According to the official WeChat account of the Xiangtan Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the Jiuhua section of the Chang-Zhu-Tan Intercity West Ring Line has met the conditions for shield tunneling, which is about to begin. It is expected to officially start at the end of May, beginning with the shield tunneling section from Beijin Station to Xiangtan North Station.

As one of the 30 landmark projects for Chang-Zhu-Tan integration in 2021, the first phase of the West Ring Line is an important support for building a half-hour transportation circle and promoting the integration of Chang-Zhu-Tan. The project is expected to be completed in 2023. Once completed, it will facilitate the integrated development of Xiangtan and Changsha and the optimization of urban spatial layout, further enhance cross-city travel for residents of the two cities, and support the development of key areas along the west bank of the Xiangjiang River.
