Currently, construction of the Wuhe S313 Huaihe River Grand Bridge, a key project in Wuhe County, Bengbu City, is in full swing. Employees of the Municipal Engineering Company of China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. are working overtime to meet the schedule and lay a solid foundation for completion in May next year.

At the construction site of the S313 Huaihe River Grand Bridge project on the east bank of the Huaihe River, dozens of construction workers are tying rebar beside the No. 19 main pier, while cranes and excavators shuttle back and forth nearby. Huang Ziyang, project manager of the S313 Huaihe River Grand Bridge, told reporters that due to the impact of last year's epidemic and summer rainstorms, the project is currently working overtime to catch up on the schedule: "To make up for the time lost to the epidemic and floods, the project department has deployed a total of 120 workers, 2 gantry cranes and 4 truck cranes at the No. 18 and No. 19 main piers for round-the-clock accelerated construction."

As an important part of the second contract section of the S313 (S306) realignment project from Toupu West to Wanghualing, the Huaihe River Grand Bridge has a total length of 2,017 meters and 53 spans, with six lanes in both directions. It is currently China's first extradosed cable-stayed suspension bridge with corrugated steel webs featuring the largest span and greatest width. The entire project is located in the southern part of Wuhe County and commenced in February 2019, with a contract value of 502 million yuan and a 1,072-meter road section built to Class I highway standards. The whole project is expected to be completed by the end of May next year. Huang Ziyang said that judging from the current construction progress, 60% of the bridge construction has been completed: "At present, the extradosed cable-stayed bridge over the Huaihe River is undergoing construction of the main pier body, and the approach bridge is basically finished. We are striving to close the bridge before the Spring Festival this year."

According to reports, once completed, the project will improve the overall traffic capacity of regional roads, enhance cross-river traffic conditions, give full play to the leading role of transport infrastructure in urban development, and help build the "three bases and one zone" and two centers.
