On the afternoon of April 25, overhead catenary installation was completed at Qingliu Railway Station in Fujian, marking the full completion of the main construction of the Jianning–Guanzhaishan section of the Pumei Railway. The project has now entered the fine-tuning and static acceptance stage, providing assurance that it will meet the conditions for opening to traffic in September.

The Pumei Railway connects Pucheng in Fujian with Meizhou in Guangdong. Construction of the Jianning–Guanzhaishan section in Fujian began in December 2016. The main line is 161 km long, with a design speed of 160 km/h, and is a Grade I single-track electrified railway of the national railway network. It has 14 stations, including Jianning County North, Jianning South, Ninghua, Qingliu, Liancheng and Guanzhaishan, of which 12 are newly built. Environmental protection and soil and water conservation were emphasized during construction.

Once the Jianning–Guanzhaishan section of the Pumei Railway is completed and opened to traffic, it will end the history of no railway service in former Central Soviet Area counties such as Ninghua and Qingliu in Fujian, and expand the reach of the round-Fujian high-speed rail network. It will make travel more convenient for local residents and boost economic and social development in the old revolutionary base areas.
