On the morning of April 27, as machinery roared and the cutterhead slowly rotated, the "Pioneer No. 1" shield machine began boring on the Baimahe Road–Hanfei Road section of Xi'an Metro Line 1 Phase III, marking the official start of shield tunnel construction on this section.

The Baimahe Road–Hanfei Road section of Xi'an Metro Line 1 Phase III, constructed by Sinohydro Bureau 3 Co., Ltd. of Power Construction Corporation of China, runs beneath Century Avenue in Xianyang. The geological conditions are complex, and the road carries heavy, busy traffic. The shield will launch from Hanfei Road Station and be received at Baimahe Road Station; after a second relocation, it will launch again from Hanfei Road and be received at the shield retrieval shaft in the open-cut section of Forest Park.

To ensure the safety of shield construction, the contractor carried out extensive preparatory work, repeatedly organizing experts to review the construction plan, optimize the specialized construction scheme and various emergency response plans, and conduct targeted emergency drills. Strict controls were applied at every key stage, from station construction to shield machine selection, design, production, disassembly, transport, hoisting and launch, laying a solid foundation for the smooth launch of the shield machine.

To date, construction has started at all seven stations of Metro Line 1 Phase III. The main structure of one station has been topped out, two stations have entered the main structure construction stage, and two shield machines are currently boring along the line.

Metro Line 1 Phase III runs from Qindu High-Speed Railway Station in Xianyang in the west to Fenghe Forest Park Station, the starting point of Line 1 Phase II, in the east. With a total length of 10.61 km, it runs along Caihong 2nd Road and Century Avenue, entirely underground, and has seven stations, including four transfer stations. The project is of great significance for connecting the main urban areas of Xi'an, Xianyang and Xixian New Area via a rapid corridor, optimizing the urban layout, and accelerating rapid socioeconomic development.
