On April 22, the reporter visited the construction site of the Shoupanyan Bridge. Upon entering the site, large rotary drilling rigs were seen in operation, the roar of machinery rose and fell, engineering vehicles came and went in an endless stream, and the construction site presented a bustling scene.


　　The Shoupanyan Bridge and connecting road project has a total length of 2.072 kilometers and a total investment of 260 million yuan. Among them, the Shoupanyan Bridge is 258 meters long and 22 meters wide, starting on the left bank of the Yalong River 500 m downstream of Shengouqing (the junction of the county access road and G227) and ending on the right bank of the Yalong River at the Ertan dedicated highway. It adopts a two-way four-lane design with a design speed of 60 km/h and Highway Class I standards.


　　It is reported that the main piers of the bridge are designed with a total of 12 large-diameter pile foundations of 2.5 m, with a maximum drilling depth of 49.5 m. After construction started on February 7, 2021, it took 74 days, and on April 22 the last pile foundation was finally poured. At present, the construction of the 14 m deep foundation pit support structures for the two pile caps of the bridge has also been fully launched. Through the earlier synchronous cross-construction with the bridge structure pile foundations, it has now been basically completed. The next focus will be deep foundation pit excavation and pile cap structure construction.

　　Dai Yuelong, project manager of CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., said: “The project is located within the Yalong River riverbed, and the underground geological conditions are complex and changeable. The riverbed overburden consists of cobble soil containing boulders, silty clay containing large block stones, and gravelly soil. After entering rock, the rock mass is generally inclined in layers at about 40°, changing continuously from sandstone to shale from top to bottom, with a maximum of 21 layers in a single pile, which has brought great difficulties to the pile foundation construction. To ensure the quality of pile formation and the construction schedule target, our construction personnel were not daunted by difficulties. They stayed at the construction site day and night, kept a close eye on the milestone target without letting up, and finally completed the pile foundation construction as planned.”

　　It is understood that the core objective of the project construction is to bring the main piers of the bridge above water before the flood season. To achieve this major goal, project management personnel and construction team workers did not take leave during the Spring Festival and all stayed at the site for continuous operations. Because the construction site is limited, cross-operations were frequent, and concrete pouring often had to start at three or four in the morning, which was extremely arduous.

　　The completion and opening to traffic of the bridge and connecting road project in August 2022 will further improve the travel environment for the public, enhance transportation services and support capacity, and have major practical significance and far-reaching historical significance for promoting the high-quality economic and social development of Yanbian.
