After 15 days and nights of intensive work, a single 1,600 mm diameter casing pipe crossing beneath the Chengdu Second Ring Expressway was successfully completed at the Guanghan Second Water Plant Project.

The Chengdu Second Ring Expressway section is approximately 121 meters long and is constructed using the slurry balance pipe jacking method. The main water transmission pipeline consists of twin DN1200 steel pipes, while the jacking casing consists of twin DN1600 Grade III reinforced concrete casing pipes. This section is located beneath a major expressway running from Chengdu to Deyang in Sichuan Province, where traffic volume is high, vehicle speeds are fast, settlement requirements are stringent, and construction is highly challenging.

In the early stages of construction, the project department conducted multiple on-site surveys and advance planning with the relevant units, and the pipeline elevation for this section was lowered several times in design to meet the requirements of the Chengdu Second Ring Expressway management authority. To successfully complete the construction task for this section, the project department planned rationally, determined the construction scheme in advance, strictly selected construction equipment and a professional pipe jacking crew, made proper preparations for construction materials and site, and ensured that equipment and pipes arrived on site simultaneously so that construction could begin immediately after equipment installation was completed. During construction, the project department adjusted the slurry concentration, slurry injection pressure, and jacking head status according to the jacking conditions, corrected deviations in a timely manner, and exercised real-time control to ensure successful completion. Through these measures, the project department overcame numerous difficulties and completed the single 1,600 mm diameter casing pipe jacking for the Second Ring Expressway section in only 15 days, providing experience for subsequent construction and laying a solid foundation for completion by the "7.30" deadline.

The project is designed for a service life of 50 years and is of great significance for improving the quality of water supplied to residents and enhancing the quality of life for the people of Guanghan City.
