On April 22, according to the Nansha District Government of Guangzhou, the main tunnel works of the Nansha Port Railway project, constructed by China Railway Guangzhou Engineering Group, have been successfully completed, laying a solid foundation for the next stage of drainage ditch and cable trench construction. Meanwhile, the arch ribs of the small-mileage section of the main bridge of the Nansha Port Railway's Hongqili Waterway Grand Bridge have completed system conversion, and the remaining suspender cables are being installed on the arch ribs of the large-mileage section.

　　The Nansha Port Railway tunnel has a construction length of 6,520 meters, including a 2,020-meter open-cut section and a 4,500-meter cut-and-cover section. This tunnel is a single-track double-box freight tunnel, the only open-cut tunnel on the entire line, and a controlling project for the whole line. The maximum buried depth of the tunnel's main structure base slab is 14.45 meters. The arch crown of the main bridge of the Nansha Port Railway's Hongqili Waterway Grand Bridge is about 100 meters high, with a bridge length of 998 meters and two main spans of 360 meters each, which is currently the largest span of its kind in the world and is known as the "Asia's No.1 Span".

　　The next construction plan will involve the installation of bridge deck ancillary structures, providing working surfaces and conditions for the track-laying unit to install ballastless track slabs and carry out track-laying operations.

　　The Nansha Port Railway is one of the important projects for transportation development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The railway is designed for a speed of 120 km/h and is an important component of the freight corridor in western Pearl River Delta. It is also the first freight railway entering the Guangzhou Nansha Free Trade Zone, running through the four cities of Jiangmen, Zhongshan, Foshan, and Guangzhou.

　　The Nansha Port Railway mainly undertakes the transportation of foreign trade containers, energy, and important raw materials for the central-south and southwest regions. Once completed, it will connect ports, highways, and railways, establish a three-dimensional transportation network, revolutionize logistics transportation, further promote the reduction of logistics costs, and bridge the "last mile" of sea-rail intermodal transport. It will significantly increase the proportion of container "sea-rail intermodal" and "sea-road-rail intermodal" transport, create higher efficiency and benefits, better promote the Pearl River Basin to provide services for trade exchanges with countries and regions along the "Belt and Road", and help Nansha become a world-class railway logistics hub.
