Taking the Jiangmen-Zhanjiang Railway to Yangjiang, Guangdong, one sees roads crisscrossing, multiple expressways connecting into a network, and the Hailing Island Bridge and Yangjiang Port Bridge forming a "two dragons out to sea" structure of one port with two bridges. Yangjiang Port is lined with wharves, and construction cranes are swinging at sites... Located in western Guangdong, Yangjiang is a necessary passage from western Guangdong to the Pearl River Delta. As a coastal city with convenient transportation, Yangjiang is brewing a batch of key projects and planning to build a modern comprehensive transportation system featuring "eastward expansion, westward connection, network formation, and three-dimensional development" to support the construction of a new development pattern.
According to the deployment of the 2021 Yangjiang Transportation Work Conference, the city has initially planned 66 projects involving railways, highways, waterways, aviation, postal services, and comprehensive transportation hubs, with a total investment of about 164.3 billion yuan, and plans to complete an investment of 70 billion yuan during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. High-speed rail from scratch: During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Yangjiang's transportation industry actively integrated into the transportation layout of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Beibu Gulf Urban Agglomeration, striving for progress and overcoming difficulties. In the past five years, Yangjiang completed about 41 billion yuan in transportation fixed asset investment, four times the total investment during the 12th Five-Year Plan period.
Over the past five years, Yangjiang's high-speed rail has grown from scratch, achieving zero breakthrough, with a total railway mileage of 308.3 kilometers; the total highway mileage exceeds 10,000 kilometers, the "five horizontal, three vertical, two branch" expressway network is accelerating, new breakthroughs have been made in the upgrading and reconstruction of trunk highways, and the construction of "four good rural roads" is progressing in an orderly manner; the construction of Yangjiang Port wharves and berths is accelerating, with annual port throughput exceeding 33 million tons; on the basis of the existing general airport, a transportation airport is planned and constructed. In 2020, Yangjiang built 51 key transportation projects and completed 11.09 billion yuan in transportation fixed asset investment, a record high; over 1,626 kilometers of rural roads were newly built or reconstructed, and rural passenger transport benefited 710 administrative villages; projects such as the 100,000-ton Yangjiang Port approach channel reconstruction project, Yangjiang Port Bridge, and Yangjiang Port port-access highway are accelerating, and the port collection and distribution system is further improved.
Comprehensive transportation integrates into the "dual zones": During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Yangjiang will highlight the concept of high-quality comprehensive transportation development, actively integrate into the "dual zones" of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Beibu Gulf Urban Agglomeration, build a modern comprehensive transportation system featuring "eastward expansion, westward connection, network formation, and three-dimensional development," further enhance Yangjiang's transportation characteristics, and promote leapfrog development of Yangjiang's transportation. By 2025, Yangjiang will strive to achieve about 1 hour by land from the urban area to core cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen and cities in western Guangdong, and about 3 hours by land to core cities of the Beibu Gulf; achieve 30 minutes from Yangjiang urban area to the administrative centers of all counties (cities, districts), and 60 minutes from the administrative centers of all counties (cities, districts) to all towns and townships in the county. This year, Yangjiang plans to advance 51 key projects.
Key planning includes the Shenzhen-Zhuhai-Yangjiang High-Speed Railway (Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway westward extension) and coastal high-speed railway, urban rail transit network, accelerating the creation of a "100-million-ton port," promoting the planning and construction of Yangjiang Airport; advancing the Yangjiang section of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway, the Yangmao section expansion project of the Shenyang-Haikou Expressway, and 14 wharves under construction at Yangjiang Port and other key transportation projects; improving the quality of transportation services, promoting the integrated development of urban and rural transportation in the city, the construction of the Binhai Bus Passenger Station, and the reform of the road transport practitioner qualification examination.
